Art has always been a creative escape for Cherie Daly, but after raising her family and a career in public policy, Cherie enrolled at Central Tech’s Adult Art Program in 2016 and began to develop her art practice, with a concentration on non-objective abstract painting. In contrast to a career that was defined by organization and planning, Daly’s paintings are created through a spontaneous and intuitive process, where energy and emotions are expressed without judgement or analysis, each mark leading to the next. The resulting pieces are bold, energetic and playful. Daly works from studio spaces in both Toronto and Muskoka has shown her work at outdoor shows in Toronto, the Federation Gallery in Vancouver, ADC Fine Art in Cincinnati and other juried shows.
