A member of the Ontario Institute of Painters, Douglas Ferguson Elliott specialized in rural landscapes, capturing scenes from Ontario and the Maritimes with a loose impressionist style brushstroke. Born in Woodstock, Elliott spent most of his life in Toronto where he was a faculty member at the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music.
