Born in Bracebridge, Robert was a pharmacist and owned an apothecary shop on Manitoba Street. Art was his passion and he spent much of his spare time sketching “en plain air” in oil on canvas and board. In 1973 he retired and devoted his time fully to art. Many of his favourite sketches were transformed into pastels on large formats. He especially loved the vibrancy and subtleties of pastels. He won many awards and was the President of the Ontario Institute of Painters. HIs work was collected by companies, such as Dofasco and by prominent individuals such as Gordon Sinclair. Robert died in 1994.
